First Million Square Meters Cleared in January

03.02.2010

In spit of extremely bad weather conditions and many suspensions of demining operations on most worksites in Croatia, still there were 1.250.000 square meters cleared in January 2010 in the costal zone. Active worksites are those in Zadar County, Šibenik-Knin County, Split-Dalmatia and Dubrovnik-Neretva County where this result has been achieved. Occasionally, the operations are suspended due to heavy rains or low temperatures, but not for long. However, in the continental part of Croatia, the situation is a lot more difficult due to the fact that snow and ice prevent access to people and machines i.e. the conduct of demining operations. The weather forecast has been monitored on a regular basis and we hope for continuation of operations very soon.
