Education in Mošćenica

11.03.2010

On Wednesday, March 10, 2010, there was a theatre play ''No, no, MINES!'' by Daska theatre from Sisak held in the ''Dragutin Tadijanović'' elementary school – branch school in Mošćenica. This educative theatre play was seen by 110 junior grade students and their teachers. The children actively participated in this interactive show and at the end awarded Daska theatre with a huge round of applause. In the Town of Petrinja, there is still ca. 41 km² of mine suspected areas and in the previous period, several mine incidents occurred. The Mošćenica community near Petrinja used to be a line of demarcation and therefore is an extremely endangered area. In only one street, which used to border mine suspected areas, 33 persons were involved in 17 mine incidents even though the entire area was properly marked with mine warning signs. Therefore, it was necessary to remind again the children of Mošćenica about mine danger and warn them to be cautious. At the end of the theatre play, children were given educative materials, posters, brochures, picture books and bracelets in order to be reminded of mine danger and warned not to enter into mine suspected areas. They were also asked to pass the information they heard and lessons learned on to their parents and neighbours. Soon, there will be several lectures held on the territory of the Town of Petrinja for senior class students adjusted to their age. They will be organized in cooperation with Anti-explosive Department of the Sisak Moslavina Police Administration.
