Cross-border Cooperation of the Republic of Hungary and Republic of Croatia
On July 12, 2010, there was a meeting held in the Osijek-Baranja County Development Agency regarding the preparation of project proposals for the cross-border cooperation of the Republic of Hungary and Republic of Croatia that include demining of border zone.
The meeting was led by the head of Agency Mr. Martin Marolin and attended by representatives of the Croatian waters, Croatian Forests, Regional Development Agency of Slavonia and Baranja and representatives of the Croatian Mine Action Centre Mr. Miljenko Vahtarić, assistant director and Mr. Dubravko Krušarovski, head of CROMAC Regional Office Osijek. The attendees were informed about the Tender that had been announced on June 10, 2010 for submission of project proposals for EC funds to be allocated from the IPA fund for cross-border cooperation. The ultimate deadline for the submission of proposals is September 15, 2010.
At the meeting, there were partners in the project on behalf of the Croatian side defined as follows: CROMAC – main partner, Osijek-Baranja County, Croatian Waters, Croatian Forests and towns and municipalities with mine suspected area (MSA) along the Croatian-Hungarian border – as associated members. It was agreed that the Croatian Waters and Croatian Forest shall submit their proposals by July 19, 2010, in order to be included in the project and require previous demining. They shall also hold the talks with the Hungarian partners regarding identification of organizations to be taking part in the project on behalf of the Hungarian side. They shall be informed about the conclusions from this meeting by Mr. Janos Hargati, county prefect of Baranya County and Mr. Hargati’s assistance will be asked in finding the Hungarian partners in this project.
