Marking of the National Day of Nikola Tesla – Day of Science, Technology and Innovation


Nikola Tesla, one of the world's greatest scientists and inventors was born on 10 July 1856 in the village of Smiljan near Gospić.
By the decision of the Croatian Parliament passed on April 4, 2014, July 10 has been declared a National Day of Nikola Tesla, the Day of Science, Technology and Innovation.
On the occasion of marking the Nikola Tesla Day, there was an official contract signing ceremony held in the premises of the Croatian Mine Action Centre for the project ''Area near the museum of Nikola Tesla in the Smiljan village'' in Lika-Senj County, layout area: 20.000 m2. The project is funded by ''Croatia without Mines'' – Trust Fund for Humanitarian Demining of Croatia. Demining of wider area around the village of Smiljan will ensure safe movement of tourists and Tesla fans visiting the museum of Tesla's greatest achievements.
There was also another demining contract signed for the project ''Forest area inside the sections 9a and 9b in G.J Kotar šuma-Stari Gaj'' in Sisak-Moslavina County, layout area: 37.992 m2 financed by donations raised by the ''Croatia without Mines'' – Trust Fund for Humanitarian Demining of Croatia and CROMAC-CTDT Ltd. Zagreb.
