UNDP supports CROMACs activities

In accordance with the Programme document "Rapid response to floods in Croatia 2014", an accord was reached between the United Nations Development programme (UNDP) and Croatian Mine Action Center

In keeping with the mentioned accord the UNDP will ensure a financial support in value of 5.000US$ with which warning signs, posts and tapes will be financed.

The specific results expected are increased visibility, i.e. better marcation of MSA as well as creating preconditions for the early recovery.

We want to emphasize the need for all of the flooded areas to be inspected and demined in order to ensure that they pose no threat for safe return of the population following the recent terrible flooding disaster. "Until completely cleared, mines will always be a threat and will further complicate the situation in cases such as this", stated Ms. Belinda Gosslin, UNDP's expert for demining and risk reduction.

In accordance with the International Humanitarian request of the Ministry of Foregin and European Affairs the UNDP has put a vehicle on disposal which will be used for spraying against mosquitos which are hampering the work of many volunteers and construction workers.

The project "Rapid response to floods in Croatia 2014" is implemented in coordination with the Government Office for Mine Action, National Protection and Rescue Directorate and Vukovar Srijem County and will last until May of 2015
