This Years Campaign "Together for Croatia without Mines" Started

This years campaign ''Together for Croatia without Mines'' started on Friday at 12,00 hrs at the Zagreb's European Square. The campaign has been implemented for three years now by the Disability Volleyball Club ''Zagreb'' in co-operation with Croatia without Mines Trust Fund, Government Office for Mine Action and Mine Aid Association.
The aim is to raise public awareness of the danger threatening from mines and UXO as well as promotion of positive perception and importance of social integration of landmine survivors.
The performance World without mines Safety-Happiness held at the youngest Zagrebs square consisted of a demonstration of demining methods held by CROMAC staff inside the improvised minefield. After that, members of Disability Volleyball Club Zagreb presented the sitting volleyball. The guests and visitors joined them later on.
The activities were supported by different educative materials, video presentation and humanitarian action of selling arko Plevniks book Red Fio. The entire event was filmed with the purpose of making an educative movie. There was a TV report covering the event broadcasted on the Croatian Radiotelevision during the afternoon news and special 25 minute-long tv show right after the event.
The event was attended by director of Government Office for Mine Action Dijana Pletina PhD, CROMAC director Mr Draen Jakopec, deputy head of Government Office for Veterans Vlasta Ivevi, brigadier Miodrag Demo, assistant head for persons with disability Marinka Bakula Aneli, representatives of landmine survivors associations etc. Volunteers, students of II Gymnasium and Vladimir Nazor elementary school assisted in the organization of the event. The campaign will be continued with the action in Vukovar on May 2 at the main city square in front of the City Government building.
