Mine Risk Education (MRE) in Sisak-Moslavina, Lika-Senj and Karlovac County


From 7 to 18 May, 2015, in accordance with CROMAC Annual Plan and invitations of the Ministry of Interior of the Republic of Croatia to participate in the campaign ''Less Arms Less Tragedies'', there were mine risk educations held in Jasenovac, Novska and Gvozd in Sisak-Moslavina County; in Lovinac, Perušić and Gospić in Lika-Senj County and Cetingrad in Karlovac County.

Informing and MRE were held on the town squares and in the elementary schools. The presenters presented mine situation on the territory of the hosts and the local population was informed demining operations in the progress in their counties. The presenters also distributed educative materials and DVDs consisting of an educative cartoon ‘’Bembo and friends against mines’’ and picture book ‘’Endangered world’’.
Children, farmers and others living in the close vicinity of suspected hazardous area were warned about forms of risk and proper behaviours as well as the fact that it is forbidden to move around areas behind mine warning signs.
