3 Million CHF-Worth Grant for the Project "Demining and Social-Economic Integration"

Deputy Prime Minister of the Government of the Republic of Croatia and Minister of Regional Development and EU funds Mr Branko Gri and Ambassador of Swiss Confederation to the Republic of Croatia H.E. Stefan Estermann have signed today the Framework Agreement between the Swiss Federal Council and Government of the Republic of Croatia on the implementation of Swiss-Croatian Programme of Co-operation in the field of reduction of economic and social inequalities within extended European Union. Croatian has been given a grant of 45 million CHF i.e. 326,5 million HRK for the projects to be implemented in the period 2016-2024.
On March 26, 2006, Swiss Confederation established the co-operation programme entitled Swiss Contribution to the EU extension process which has so far been used by 12 EU member states. Today, Croatia has become the 13th country which formally starts participating in the programme aimed at decrease of economic and social inequalities on the territory of the European Union.
In that way, Swiss-Croatian Co-operation Programme represents the continuity of Swiss solidarity with the EU and sharing the efforts being put into reduction of economic and social inequalities in the youngest EU member state.
Swiss-Croatian Co-operation Programme shall support activities aimed at raising the quality of life of the citizens of the Republic of Croatia via eight projects. One of them is the programme entitled Demining and Social-Economic Integration that consists of demining of protected forest land but also social-economic integration of mine victims. Grant worth 3 million CHF is planned for the above-mentioned project.
The Government of the Republic of Croatia co-finances the project with 15% of the total project value.
