473 deminers working in the Slavonija and Baranja


Of the total 646 active deminers many as 473 are employed in the demining operations during the summer months.

There are three major projects which spread over 6.3 square kilometers of mine suspected areas of Osijek-Baranja and Vukovar-Srijem Counties. Their total monetary value is just over 50 million Kuna, and it should be noted that two of the three projects are financed by grants under IPA 2011 program.

Current realization in mentioned area has noted 368 different mines and about 14 different pieces of unexploded ordnance found and destroyed.

Demining operations in these areas are planned to be completed by mid-August when the capacities should be transferred on demining 17 square kilometers of agricultural land in the Karlovac and Sisak-Moslavina County. Also, it is worth remembering that 85% of granted funds received by counties with mine problems were allocated from the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development (EAFRD).
