SIGNING OF THE DRAFT AGREEMENT ON COOPERATION BETWEEN THE CROATIAN MINE ACTION CENTRE AND THE ARMENIAN MINE ACTION CENTRE

The Croatian delegation, led by Mr. Karas and Mr. Vahtari, assistant directors of CROMAC, Mr. Pavkovi, director of CROMAC-CTDT, and Mr. Renduli, CROMAC assistant for EU funds and international cooperation, was welcomed from 14th to 16th July by the director of the Armenian Center for Humanitarian Demining (CHDE) g. Arakelyan and his associates. During the visit, Croatian delegation was familiarized with all aspects of mine action conducted by colleagues in Armenia, the organizational structure of the Armenian Center for Humanitarian Demining and the capacities of Ejmiatsin Centre for training and education. Exchange of experiences and potential opportunities for cooperation was continued during a meeting with Mr. Lilian Salaru, program manager for the politico-military programs at the OSCE Office in Yerevan. Draft Agreement on cooperation between the Croatian Mine Action Centre and the Armenian Center for Humanitarian Demining was signed on July 16th by Mr. Arakelyan on behalf of CHDE and Mr. Karas on behalf of CROMAC. The official visit to Armenia created the foundation for future cooperation between the CROMAC and CHDE, defined specific actions that will continue with focus on the support of the Armenian Center for Humanitarian Demining in the areas of adoption of the Law on Humanitarian Demining, establishment of the National Mine Action Strategy, the potential Armenian membership in SEEMACC and cooperation supported by the OSCE Office in Yerevan in the field of education.
