Working meetings - implementation of the Plan of humanitarian demining in 2015

CROMAC Director and his associates organized on 18 August 2015, work meetings with representatives of trade unions and employers who work in humanitarian demining.

Participants were acquainted with the realization of the Humanitarian Demining Plan for 2015, closing with 14 August 2015, and were presented with further activities of the Centre.

During the talks, the analysis of the capacity and performance in the observed period was shown, in which, among other things, statistics on the achievement of a total of 206 working days, with 64,221 deminer engagement on various projects, averaging 321 deminer engaged per day, were presented.

Actual realization from the beginning of the year amounted to 21,667,560 square meters of suspected hazardous area and the average performance of deminer resulted in 337 square meters per day. Since the beginning of the year to mid-August demining operations were carried out at an average price of 6,74 /m2.

Implementation of demining activities in the mentioned 21.67 square kilometers resulted in the discovery of 1,735 anti-personnel and 592 anti-tank mines and 1,284 pieces of different unexploded ordnance. Statistically, 11.3 mines were found per day, while in the noted period, one deminer found 11.6 pieces of lethal ordnance or explosives. Also, analysis has shown it is necessary to examine 9,311 square meters of suspected hazardous area to find one mine.

Regarding the further activities of CROMAC, activities on completion of procurement procedures for deferral of demining of agricultural land by the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development (EAFRD) and the realization of the preconditions for the demining contracting by the Counties, as the beneficiaries with the selected contractors, were highlighted.
To recall, it is referred to a nearly 30 square kilometers of mine suspected, solely agricultural areas for which, mine-affected Counties have requested funds for demining from the EAFRD in the amount of 220 million Kuna.
