EAFRD funds and the state budget will finance demining activities on agricultural area of Sisak - Moslavina County worth 91.2 million HRK, the highest financial value ever


Prefect of Sisak - Moslavina County Ivo Žinić, director of the Croatian Mine Action Centre Dražen Jakopec and directors of companies HEKSOGEN d.o.o. Dubrovnik, TITAN d.o.o. Požega and MKA * DEMING d.o.o. Čakovec, as contractors, signed contracts for demining of agricultural area of Sisak - Moslavina County that are funded by grant from the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development (EAFRD) in the amount of 85% of the total value and from the Republic of Croatia in the amount of 15%.
With the realization of four contracts worth 91,168,944.16 HRK, representing almost half of the funds allocated so far for demining on the annual level from the state budget, 13, 4 square kilometers of agricultural land in the area of Sisak, Petrinja, Glina and the municipalities of Sunja, Topusko, Gvozd and Dvor will be demined.
Activities are planned to start by deciding on the allocation of funds from the Agency for Payments in agriculture, Fisheries and Rural Development which is the last administrative step before the commencement of demining.

The mentioned four contracts will be carried out by an almost all legal persons registered for demining, while in the different periods, in the peak days, there will be vast majority of 653 deminers employed.
Depending on the size of the project activities will be carried out from 90 to 150 working days.

Sisak - Moslavina County has 93.7 square kilometers of mine suspected area, of which 26% is agricultural land, therefore, the realization of the signed contracts will almost halve the mine suspected agricultural land of Sisak - Moslavina County.
Contracts that are signed today are the result of the activities and efforts of the Ministry of Agriculture, the Office for Mine Action of the Croatian Government, Paying Agency for Agriculture, Fisheries and Rural Development and the CROMAC aiming to create, in the Rural Development Programme within the measure M05, conditions for determining the sub-measure 5.2. "Support for investment in the restoration of agricultural land and production potential disrupted by natural disasters, adverse climatic conditions and catastrophic events", that is type operation 5.2.2. whose execution will demine the entire Croatian agricultural land.
By defining the type of operation 5.2.2. Paying Agency for Agriculture, Fisheries and Rural Development announced a tender for applications for support from the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development (EAFRD) for a grant for the "Demining of agricultural land" on which, in order to achieve support for the demining of agricultural land, Sisak - Moslavina, Karlovac, Brod - Posavina, Lika - Senj, Osijek - Baranja and Požega – Slavonija sent their applications.

Based on the decision on admissibility of the application for the support counties have published calls for tender with the purpose of assigning demining activities: Karlovac for 3.75 km2, Sisak - Moslavina 13.4 km2, Lika - Senj 6.4 km2, Požega - Slavonija 3.7 km2, Osijek - Baranja 1.38 km2 and Brod - Posavina for 857,425 square meters of demining activities on agricultural land, therefore, a total of 29.57 square kilometers, of the estimated value of 175.6 million HRK (without VAT).
All counties have completed the public procurement procedures while the contracts for demining were signed by Karlovac, Brod - Posavina and Sisak – Moslavina.
