On March 30, 2016 at the premises of Sisak-Moslavina County, Contract on the donating funds for demining of mine suspected areas was signed between the AMCHAM and CROMAC. Contract was signed by the executive director of AMCHAM, Ms. Andrea Doko Jelušić, president of the AMCHAM Mr. Berislav Horvat and assistant of CROMAC Mr. Neven Karas in the attendance of prefect Mr. Ivo Žinić and the representative of the United States Embassy in Croatia.

On November 5, 2015 14th humanitarian dinner ˝Evening for Safe Steps˝ was held in the organization of American Chamber of Commerce in Croatia where funds were raised in the amount of 257.900,00 HRK, while U.S. Government will donate another 25.000 USD which will be placed through the foundation ITF from Slovenia.

All donated funds will be spent on demining of mine suspected areas of forest Kotar in Sisak-Moslavina County of approximately 50.000 square kilometers of layout area. The beginning of the activities is planned for May.

The reason for selecting the forest Kotar to which the respective donation will be directed is a continuation of systematic demining of its area, which started in 2014, as the area of security significance, given the high number of mine casualties and a significant number of set minefields. In fact, in the area of forest Kotar, there have been 19 mine incidents registered involving 33 people, 13 of them fatal.

From 2002 the American Chamber of Commerce in Croatia has organize humanitarian dinners with aim to gather funds for demining. Until 2015 throughout fourteen ˝Nights of Thousand Dinners˝ thus, ˝Evenings for Safe Steps˝ a total of 1.000.270 USD was collected. More than 750.000 square kilometers of mine suspected area were demined with the collected funds in the area of Osijek-Baranja, Vukovar-Srijem, Karlovac, Zadar and Šibenik Knin Counties.
