3D Display of Mine Contamination of the Republic of Croatia

03.07.2009

On July 2, there was the training of CROMAC staff held at the Croatian Mine Action Centre relating to the use of the latest Geofoto company product, 3D display of suspected hazardous areas in the Republic of Croatia. Stated technology will enable better quality preparation of general surveys and demining projects as well as more complex analysis of the situation in the field and mine action results. Namely, combination of the digital model of relief, digital ortophoto and SHA-related information creates the three-dimensional display of the terrain and mine situation of the Republic of Croatia.

Taking into account the existence of suspected hazardous areas on inaccessible mountainous terrains such as Velebit, this type of display will make preparations of CROMAC staff a lot easier prior to their visits to the actual sites as well as the entire process of SHA reduction. This latest technological solution of the company Geofoto Ltd. from Zagreb will be applicable to all suspected hazardous areas in Croatia due to the fact that there are digital ortophotos S 1: 2 000 (DOP2) available for all the above-mentioned areas.
